A typical ‘Introduction to Fly Fishing’ day or half-day will include:
• Introduction to fly fishing equipment -
• Setting up the fly fishing equipment
• Fly fishing knots
• Leader design
• The two basic casts -
• ‘False casting’, ‘Shooting Line’ and ‘Line Management’
• The target fish species and its environment
• Basic entomology
• Fly fishing techniques
• Playing and landing a fish
• Guided fly fishing -
• Follow up advice and help
All tackle is provided although you are welcome to bring your own.
The complete beginner will not need to purchase an Environment Agency Rod Licence. For the duration of the fly fishing lesson you will be covered by my coaching licence.
Children under the age of 12 do not require a rod licence.
All other persons must have a valid rod licence -
Accompanied fishing can be provided for the following:
• Small still waters for Rainbow Trout
• Larger lakes for Brown and Rainbow Trout
• Reservoirs for Rainbow Trout
• Small streams and rivers for Brown Trout and Grayling
